BMS Soil Sampler

BMS Soil Sampler

Our 1.5-inch Soil Sampler provides a detailed view of turf health, extracting a wider, less compacted core for easy examination of root depth, thatch, and soil layers. The large tine window simplifies core inspection and removal, making it perfect for both daily checks and in-depth analysis.

A decent soil sampler is one of the most essential tools for any greenkeeper or groundsman. Our 1.5″ (38 mm) Soil Sampler is a simple, robust tool designed for general-purpose work when a larger, clearer sample is required.

The wider diameter provides a substantial core that’s easy to examine without disturbance. Check for compaction, analyse root growth, measure thatch depth, and see exactly what’s happening beneath the surface. The large cut-out window in the tine makes inspection and ejection straightforward.

Construction and durability:

  • Built in the UK from solid steel
  • T-bar handle for good grip
  • Foot peg for extra leverage in firm ground
  • Durable workhorse designed to last

Bonus: Many groundsmen also use this tool to create the perfect-sized hole for BMS ground sockets for posts and rope stakes, making it a practical dual-purpose tool.

How it works:

  1. Position the sampler vertically on the turf to inspect.
  2. Place your foot on the foot peg and press the tine firmly into the ground.
  3. Twist the T-bar 90 degrees and pull upward to remove the soil core.
  4. Inspect the core through the large cut-out window.
  5. Remove the core by tapping the tool or sliding it out with your fingers.
